The Five Boro Bike Tour began in 1976 as a program of American Youth Hostels....The largest recreational cycling event in the U.S.... thousands of recreational cyclists, fitness enthusiasts, families and friends from around the globe will join together in lower Manhattan to kick-off the 42 mile Tour through New York City’s five boroughs....Bike New York added a second Ride in 2002, The Twin Lights Ride, to make riding opportunities outside the city available.... In 2004 Bike New York added The Harlem Valley Rail Ride, a July ride beginning and ending in Millerton, New York, in northern Dutchess County."

Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors "...A free festival with something for everyone, Lincoln Center Out of Doors presents over 100 different events: world music, internationally acclaimed dance, cutting-edge performances, special events, cool jazz, and fun for kids. New York's Hong Kong's Dragon Boat Festival "...Held each year in August, the action-packed event features races of long, sleek dragon boats that slice through the waters at breathtaking speed as paddles fly, drums beat wildly and spectators cheer. Activities for the entire family including on stage cultural performances, sponsor booths & arts & crafts. FOOD- is such an integral part of the Festival experience. Several very special sponsors have come on board with plans for some exciting food related events, from sampling and cooking demonstrations to a Dumpling Eating Challenge.... Each dragon boat holds a crew of 18 or more men and women sitting side by side, with a person to steer the boat at the rudder and a drummer whose beat sets the pace for the crew. Traditional Dragon boats, measure some 38 feet long. The slim teakwood and fiberglass racers are decorated in brilliant Chinese colors with a hand-painted dragon’s head at the prow and a flashy tail at the stern...."

CityParks Puppets "... one of the only traveling puppet theaters in the country, brings Swedish Cottage productions and puppet making workshops to all corners of the city, free of charge. Traveling the five boroughs of the city in a “puppetmobile” equipped with stage and staff of professional puppeteers, we bring entertainment to 70,000 children and families each year. Performances are held in parks, playgrounds, recreation centers and beaches in summer and inside public schools during the school year. Marionette shows are followed by puppet making workshops where children learn about the art of marionette puppetry and create their own puppets...."

Annual Charlie Parker Jazz Festival "... The influence and inspiration that Charlie Parker bestowed upon his fellow musicians and listeners was so profound that its effects are still being felt strongly today. His rhythmic and harmonic inventions, partly responsible for the creation of bebop, can be heard coming from the instruments of musicians around the world. Each year the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival assembles some of the finest musicians in the world who reflect Parker’s musical individuality and genius, to promote appreciation for this highly influential and world-renowned artist. The two days of concerts take place in the neighborhoods where Parker himself lived and worked...."
