| Where to Find Free Legal Music on the Internet There is a lot of totally free music available on the Internet for streaming or for download if you know where to look. To start with, if you have a favorite artist or band, try going to their record label or their website. Often you will find a few sample tracks which you can download for free. If you have broadband access to the Internet you can turn your computer into a radio, listening to some wonderful music for free as you surf the net. You can find this free streaming music at sites like MP3.com and PureVolume.com. You can also find a lot of free music you can legally download to add to your MP-3 library. A simple search in Google for "free legal MP3 downloads" will yield 1,000's of pages to visit. Much of this music is the result of smaller bands seeking to be heard. Examples of this can be found at GarageBand.com and at PureVolume.com. If you're into the local music scene, going online first is a great way to preview a band's music before you go to see them in person. To discover where you can find a particular band's music, just go to Google and type in their name -- or type in the music genre and city to find your favorite local bands. A major contributor to the online free music scene is the remixer. For example, there are sites devoted to taking the melody line from old Commodore 64 video games and re-doing them, usually in techno style, turning a mono-tone melody into a fullblown orchestral composition.
