Free Festivals and Fiestas in Los Angeles

Los Angeles Festivals Lists over 300 festivals held annually in Los Angeles area

Cherry Blossom Festival "... take the time to see, hear, and taste a bit of the Japanese and Japanese American culture through a first-hand experience of watching traditional Japanese dancing, hearing the resounding beats of the taiko drums, observing the mastery and various skills of martial arts, participating in the ancient art of the tea ceremony, or buying hand-made crafts or food with an Asian flair. Other highlights of the Festival include games & crafts for children, and numerous cultural displays...." Third weekend in April at Barnes Park, located at 350 S. McPherrin Avenue; Monterey Park, CA. See other Monterey Park events throughout the year.

Eclectic Orange Festival

Lotus Festival "... live music, dance and entertainment from a variety of performers representing many of the diverse countries of Asia and the Pacific Islands.... A fabulous fireworks finale over Echo Park Lake will conclude the day's activities... with legendary Taiko Drummers playing the background...n Asian and Pacific Islander personalities from the media and acting professions will act as emcees/hosts ... Artisans-at-work will be on hand to demonstrate their skills... : paper-cutting, hand painted scrolls, calligraphy, plant and flower expertise, fish, birds and other Asian artifacts.The Health Fair will feature educational lectures on holistic fitness... The Art Show Exhibit will feature artwork with the "lotus flower" theme painted by students from Junior and Senior High Schools and Senior Citizens throughout the Southern California communities. Professional artists will judge entries.... The International Marketplace will offer a variety of Asian and Pacific Islander items and gifts for sale, including clothing, jewelry, artwork, hand-made crafts, incense, body oils and much more..." Takes place annually ... usually 2nd weekend in July.

Olvera Street Fiestas It seems that just about any occasion is a reason to have a fiesta in Olvera Street... the Blessing of Animals, Mardi Gras, The Day of the Dead, Chinese New Year, Cinco de Mayo... etc., etc. There are typically many family-friendly events appropriate to each occasion... parades, storytelling, folkloric music, face painting, dancing, etc. All events are free.
