Chicago Festivals

Art Chicago in the Park "... Art Chicago in the Park 2006 will return to its spectacular downtown location at Butler Field on Chicago's beautiful lakefront. The fair will take place from April 28 - May 1, in a gracious tent structure across from the Art Institute of Chicago and adjacent to the world famous Millennium Park. Last year's pavilion-in-the-park made a captivating impact on the ever-changing urban landscape of downtown Chicago and was met with unanimous approval and accolades...."

Chicago Folk & Roots Festival "... For two days in Welles Park (in the Lincoln Square neighborhood), The Old Town School of Folk Music's commitment to educate, honor, and present American and International artistic traditions and styles is on display in a multi-staged open-air festival environment celebrating artistic diversity and cultural harmony." Early July.

Chicago Blues Festival   ".... For four days in late spring each year, the lakefront in Grant Park is packed with blues bands and enthusiasts from all over the world for the Chicago Blues Festival, the largest free blues festival in the world.... The main attractions of the festival for many are the sideshows alongside Grant Park, where you might see a big name stop by for an impromptu performance, or a future star giving a jaw-dropping set on a makeshift stage.... At night, the festival carries on in clubs all around the city, from the more well-known and well-heeled venues to the downtown spit-and-sawdust bars where you find the real Chicago blues experience."

Chicago Wine and Food Festival

Taste of Chicago "...The Taste of Chicago is an annual tradition for the city held at Grant Park, typically during the 10-day period preceding the Fourth of July. It features the cuisine of nearly 100 local restaurants, great entertainment and a variety of exhibits and activities. The various restaurants set up shop in tents. The food options are too numerous to list, but you'll want to try one or more varieties of Chicago pizza and definitely some cheesecake. The Taste offers every ethnic food imaginable, corn on the cob, ice cream -- the list goes on and on. At any given time, the entertainment will be drawing crowds on multiple stages, with the biggest name acts playing at the Petrillo Music Shell. The Taste draws millions of visitors each year..."
